Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Instruction

Started a class @ OSU_ OKC today to become a MSF certified motorcycle riding instructor. It's a cool class. I've been riding for over 30 years and I think they have a good way of explaining rider awareness issues. Seem to stress that experience makes the best teacher. Our job as instructors is to instill enough knowledge to ensure they (our students) live long enough to get experienced. This is an intense 3 weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sun) 60+ hour training and I've got homework to do. Talk at ya l8r.

Dictionary.com/thinking

This is a good place to start any conversation about thinking skills. It is dictionary.com's definition of thinking.

What is thinking?

Webster’s dictionary gives a good definition: 1. to use the mind for arriving at conclusions, making decisions, drawing inferences, etc.; reflect; reason (& I add ---mentally create).

Thinking is the very essence of our humanity.  Each sentinent being possesses at its' core some concept of self.  This awareness and genetics then guides our existence.  As humans we have a very well developed sense of self and are also acuately aware of 'other than self'.  This acute awareness triggers something in us to search for order and patterns to name this 'other than self'.  So perhaps at its basest thinking is just seeking order.  What do you think?
